SecureDisplay by Peaceful Journey · Free

Turn several Apple devices into secure extended displays

Use a nearby Mac, iMac, Mac mini, iPad, or iPhone as an extended display for a host Mac. Sharing a network is never enough: every connection requires a new six-digit code and approval on the receiving device.

We do not distribute unnotarized development builds. This page will enable downloads only after Developer ID signing, Apple notarization, a clean-Mac installation test, and real multi-device validation have passed.

Free release status

Downloads open only after the installer is safe to publish

The free distribution policy is set, but there is no signed and notarized public release yet.

  1. Freeze the sourceRecord the exact commit, version, and release changes.
  2. Apple verificationPass Developer ID signing, Apple notarization, and Gatekeeper checks.
  3. Real-device validationVerify connection, disconnect, and recovery with a clean Mac and two to four receivers.
  4. Re-download verificationDownload the published file and re-check its signature, notarization, and SHA-256.

A public release will show its version, date, file size, supported macOS version, SHA-256 digest, and notarization status next to the download. Published versioned files will never be overwritten.

Core capabilities

Extend one desktop across up to four receivers

These are engineering-prototype capabilities. Public performance figures will be set only after real-device measurements.

01

Dual, triple, or quad

Place one to four receiver displays to the left, right, above, or below the host Mac.

02

Wired-first low latency

Select Ethernet, Thunderbolt Bridge, USB, or Wi‑Fi according to an explicit connection policy.

03

Code and local approval

A six-digit code, encrypted authentication, and approval on the receiver are all required.

04

Resolution and layout

Choose display modes, scaling, and refresh rates within each device’s validated limits.

05

Touch pointer

Direct finger touch on an iPhone or iPad can act as a left click and drag.

06

Camera-assisted layout

Local marker analysis from multiple mobile cameras can propose geometric screen placement.

Connection security

Being on the same network never grants access

Wireless and cable connections use the same user-verification boundary.

1

Find a device

Discover receivers only through the connection methods the user selected.

2

Confirm six digits

Enter the fresh code shown only on the receiving device.

3

Approve on the receiver

Even after cryptographic authentication, the person at the receiver must approve the connection.

Data boundary

  • Display and input traffic travels over an encrypted local connection between authenticated devices and is not uploaded to Peaceful Journey servers.
  • No account is required. Device trust keys and preferences remain on the participating devices.
  • Camera-assisted layout does not save or transmit original photos or video; it sends only locally interpreted marker geometry.
  • Changing connection mode, backgrounding, display reconfiguration, or disconnecting releases active remote input.

Compatibility and permissions

Host and receiver roles stay explicit

Current development targets are macOS 15 or later and iOS/iPadOS 18 or later. Final device and chip support will be published after hardware validation.

Mac Host

The central Mac that extends its desktop and transmits display content.

  • Screen Recording permission
  • Local Network permission
  • Accessibility permission for touch input

Mac Receiver

Use an iMac, Mac mini, or another Mac as a secondary display.

  • Receiver display window
  • Ethernet, Thunderbolt Bridge, or Wi‑Fi
  • Local approval for every connection

iPhone or iPad Receiver

Use a mobile device as a display and direct-touch pointer.

  • The mobile receiver app is not public yet
  • USB, Ethernet, and Wi‑Fi paths are under validation
  • Camera calibration always requires separate consent

The iPhone/iPad USB tunnel and macOS virtual-display path include technology that needs separate compatibility review for public distribution. Unsupported combinations will not be listed as compatible.

Frequently asked questions

Know the release boundary before downloading

Will SecureDisplay really be free?

Yes. SecureDisplay is planned as a free download with no account or email gate. Free distribution and the source-code license are separate policies.

Can I download it now?

Not yet. The download is disabled because no Developer ID-signed and Apple-notarized public installer is available.

Why distribute from the website instead of the Mac App Store?

The Mac Host technology path is currently being validated for direct distribution. Only a notarized release that passes Gatekeeper checks will be published.

Can I use Cat 8 Ethernet and a USB hub?

Yes, with an Ethernet adapter that the operating system recognizes and, for mobile devices, a properly powered hub. Real speed is limited by the slowest adapter, hub, and network port.

Are display or keyboard data stored on an outside server?

SecureDisplay display and input traffic uses an encrypted local path between authenticated devices and is not uploaded to Peaceful Journey servers.

How will updates work?

The first public release will use manual downloads with a visible version and SHA-256. Automatic updates remain off until update signing, downgrade prevention, and recovery have been tested.
